Maintenance Person

Location: Howzit Hostels – Wailuku, Maui, Hawai'i

Salary: $55,000/year + Full Benefits

Schedule: Full-time (8 am-5 pm 4 days a week - Use your 3rd day off to relax and enjoy a proper work-life balance, or this could be the perfect gig for someone looking to pick up a side gig!)

Howzit Hostels is a premier hostel chain with locations throughout Hawai'i, known for its vibrant community, top-notch facilities, and commitment to creating unforgettable experiences for our guests. We seek a skilled Full-Time Maintenance Worker to join our team and help us maintain and improve our Maui property.

Position Overview

The ideal candidate will be proficient in various maintenance and repair tasks and possess the skills to keep our hostel running smoothly and looking its best. If you’re experienced in hands-on repair work, have a truck, and are already based in Maui, we’d love to hear from you!

Responsibilities:

• Perform plumbing, electrical, framing, and drywall repair work as needed.
• Carry out demolition work and assist in renovation projects.
• Ensure the facility is well-maintained, addressing repair needs promptly.
• Conduct regular inspections with management to identify and resolve potential issues.
• Perform dump runs and transporting materials.
• Collaborate with the management team to prioritize maintenance tasks.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Requirements:

• Proficiency in plumbing, electrical, framing, drywall repair, and demolition.
• Must own a truck and be able to complete dump runs as needed.
• Prior experience in maintenance or similar work (photos of past projects are highly encouraged).
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently manage time.
• Must already reside in Maui.
• References from previous employers or clients are required.
• We also operate a property in Hilo, and the ideal candidate would be flexible and willing to travel to the Big Island temporarily to assist with maintenance projects as needed.
