EMIP ASSISTANT ADMINISTRATOR

$9,142-$15,000 per month, salary commensurate w/ training and experience

 

Exempt, non-civil service, temporary, full-time appointment. The purpose of the Environmental Management Infrastructure Project (EMIP) is to support the implementation and impact of U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) grant awards and ensure capacity to implement environmental recovery projects after disasters and emergencies, to protect Hawaii’s water, land, and air, mitigating their impact on public health.

 

The purpose of this position is to serve as an assistant to the Environmental Management Division (EMD) Administrator, supporting the overall management and administration of EMD branches assisting with legislative activities and administrative rules, managing EMD priority and infrastructure activities, multiple grants and special projects. Provides support to various teams and workgroups involved with developing and implementing activities aligned with the Department of Health strategic plan.


Minimum Qualification(s)

 

EDUCATION:  Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in engineering, biological or physical science, or an environmental or public health related field. Relevant substitutions may apply.

 

EXPERIENCE: At least two years (2) management experience involving budgeting, contracting, human resources, planning, program development and performance management. One year (1) of work experience supervising staff or supervisory experience equivalent to a Branch Chief or higher or a supervisor of a large section. Administrative aptitude in coordinating quality assurance, budget planning, legislative activities, strategic planning, problem solving and collaboration.

 

LICENSE:  Possession of a valid State of Hawaii Driver’s License is preferred.

This position is eligible for a hybrid telework work schedule after completion of six months of credible service and upon approval by the supervisor.

 

This position is exempt from civil service and considered temporary in nature. Therefore, if you are appointed to the position, your employment will be considered to be “at will,” which means that you may be discharged from your employment at the prerogative of your department head or designee at any time.
