Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity for Infectious Diseases (ELC) Infection Preventionist

Up to $6,579 per month, salary commensurate w/ training and experience

 

Exempt, non-civil service, full-time, temporary appointment. This position aims to provide infection prevention support and subject matter expertise to healthcare and infection preventionists in Hawaii as part of the Disease Outbreak Control Division (DOCD) Healthcare Associated Infections/Antimicrobial Resistant (HAI/AR) Team. This position offers logistical assistance, support, and consultation to healthcare by performing such activities but not limited to assessing infection prevention control readiness; identifying gaps in infection control; recommending practices, methods, and other resources to prevent or control; helping to mitigate COVID-19 and any other emerging infectious diseases or conditions, etc.  

 

 

Minimum Qualification(s)

 

EDUCATION:     Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college with a bachelor’s degree.

 

Graduation with a baccalaureate degree, which included a public health/community health nursing program accredited by the National League for Nursing, and a license to practice professional nursing in the State of Hawaii is desirable.

 

Graduation with a baccalaureate degree in public health, epidemiology, clinical laboratory science, medical technology, or a related field is desirable.

 

EXPERIENCE:     Work experience in infection prevention and control with active participation in infection prevention control programs or research, or both, to reduce HAIs in targeted settings (e.g., dialysis, long-term care, outpatient, long term acute care hospitals, and acute care).

 

Prior work experience in infection control and prevention preferred.

This position is exempt from civil service. Employment in such positions is considered to be “at will.” This position can be up to a 24-month appointment, federally funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity (ELC) Cooperative Agreement for the budget period beginning August 1, 2023 – July 31, 2024.
