Parkway Village Preschool will be located at 689 Manawai Street #E114, Kapolei, HI 96706, at the newly developed Parkway Village at Kapolei within walking distance of Hoʻokele Elementary School. Our preschool is dedicated to sparking curiosity and fostering a love for learning in every child. Job Summary:
The Preschool Center Director is entrusted with the vital responsibility of executing and overseeing daily operations and administration of the Parkway Village Preschool. The Center Director is responsible for developing and implementing curriculum, fostering a safe and nurturing environment for students, managing enrollment, and maintaining positive relationships with staff, families, and the community. Reporting directly to the Governing Board of Parkway Villages Preschool, this role plays a pivotal role in realizing our mission and adhering to personnel policies and procedures.

Essential Job Functions:
- Exhibit conduct in line with the school’s mission and adhere to personnel policies and procedures.
- Provide visionary leadership to school staff, serving as a supervisor to staff under their purview, and oversight of all school operations Recruit, hire, and supervise preschool staff, ensuring high performance and alignment with school goals. Support training and professional development for staff on assessments, screenings, developmentally appropriate practices, and reporting practices.
- Foster and promote parent engagement activities with an emphasis on school readiness and support parents in being advocates for their children. Serve as primary point of contact for families, fostering open communication and maintaining strong partnerships to support each child’s development. Engage local community and partner organizations to build a network of resources and support for the preschool
- Oversee all aspects of eligibility, recruitment, selection, enrollment, and attendance of children Collaborate with charter commission staff on administering enrollment procedures that adhere to the preschools charter contract.
- Spearhead the development and implementation of a tailored early childhood education program for children ages 3-5 years and their families, and bridging communication between staff and families. Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, making adjustments to enhance educational outcomes and operational efficiency.
- Prepare, compile, and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to funders, board members, and relevant departments, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Coordinate efficient utilization of center facilities, equipment, and materials to achieve school goals, acting as a liaison between the community and the school. Ensure compliance with state and applicable federal regulations, including health and safety, and licensing requirements if applicable.
- Uphold meticulous record-keeping standards, safeguard the confidentiality of all child records, and ensure compliance with HIPAA and FERPA regulations.
Other Job Functions:
- Develop and implement the school’s quality assurance and improvement plan.
- Provide financial oversight by monitoring fiscal records and expenditures.
- Gather and verify data accuracy, completing reports promptly.
- Participate in the school’s strategic planning and contribute to the school’s annual self-assessment.
- Exhibit a commitment to lifelong learning, particularly in early childhood education.
- Facilitate regular supervisory and staff meetings, as well as attend other essential meetings.
- Establish the school’s staff development and wellness initiatives.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy work environment.
Working Conditions:
Working conditions are generally favorable, with occasional exposure to temperature extremes, noise, or dust.
Equipment Use:
Primarily computer, general office equipment and tools, and educational equipment.
Work Hours:
Typically, between 7:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend requirements, especially during grant writing and submission, as well as PIR submission.
Education/Experience:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Abachelor’s degree in early childhood education, child development, education administration, ore related field, withtwoyears' experienceworkingwithyoungchildrenandfamilies
- One year of experience supervising teaching staff in Early Childhood Education.
- A minimum of 3 – 5 years of experience in early childhood education, with at least 2 years in a leadership or administrative role.
Additional Qualifications (preferred):
- Have a license that shows completion of a state approved teacher education program in early childhood education in the State of Hawaii and meet Hawaii Teacher Standards Board requirements OR currently enrolled in a state-approved teacher education program working towards satisfying the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board licensing requirements
Other Requirements:
- Possession of a valid driver's license and daily access to an automobile.
- Proof of no-fault insurance.
- Ability to obtain an acceptable driver's abstract.
- Ability to obtain an acceptable FBI background check.
- Ability to obtain an acceptable CWS child abuse registry check and Sex Offender Registry Check.
- Testing negative for Tuberculosis within six months prior to employment.
- Successful certification for job fitness on physical as required by Charter School standards.
