Our client is on the lookout for a dynamic and driven Pilot Plant Operator to join their team in Kona. In this role, you will support the lead Commissioning Engineer and play a crucial part in the operation and maintenance of our client's innovative 1Kton pilot plant extracting and harnessing the CO2 from the ocean.

The ideal candidate will have 2 years of relevant hands-on experience in the operation of industrial systems. This is a great opportunity for a candidate with some mechanical aptitude who is passionate about environmental sciences, alternative energy, and sustainability.

Hours

Full-time, Monday to Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm (Varying shifts & weekends as needed)

Pay

$28 to $32 an hour

Responsibilities

  • Master the basic operation of the Direct Ocean Capture (DOC) system and become an integral part of the company mission.
  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on various equipment, documenting all activities meticulously.
  • Support system power and signal connections to the control system, ensuring seamless operations.
  • Maintain software functionality with regular operational updates and monitoring.
  • Utilize a range of hand and shop tools, such as drills, saws, and wrenches, to support plant operations.
  • Keep detailed records and logs for subsystem performance, maintenance, and overall DOC system operation data.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental compliance regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Research and Development team on equipment changes and experimental system runs.
  • Execute precise laboratory techniques, including reagent preparation, sample analysis, and quality control to track pilot plant performance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant hands-on experience in the operation of industrial systems (e.g., chemical petrochemical, water, mining, oil & gas plants).
  • Experience in an engineering discipline such as mechanical, chemical, industrial, environmental, or related technical field preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Knowledge of industrial equipment and chemical, mechanical, electrical, and process control systems.
  • Understanding of the chemistry of acid, base, hardness, and pH in support of the DOC systems.
  • Willingness to work outdoors, lift equipment, stand for prolonged periods,
  • Flexibility to work occasional weekends and odd hours.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in small teams.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and state and federal background check.
