We are based on Maui but have current contracted work throughout the state. We specialize in providing excellent tile & stone work on custom home projects, hotel upgrades, tenant improvements, and commercial/industrial work. Job Description
Primary FunctionPerform various types of laborious work to assist Tile Setters and Superintendents/Foremen with laying and setting tiles to create decorative wall, mural and floor designs.
Duties Expected
- Cleaning and preparing construction sites.
- Loading and unloading materials and equipment.
- Assisting tile setters and skilled tradesmen with various duties, installing hard tiles, wood, and marble in homes, offices, and commercial spaces.
- Cut and shape the tiles to size, using several different tools, including tile scribes, wet saws, and handheld tile cutters.
- Forming tile beds using concrete, plaster, mastic, cement, glue or mortar utilizing tools.
- Aligning tiles and straightening them with straightedges, levels, and squares to ensure patterns are even and precise.
- Cutting, installing, and polishing surface granite and marble.
- Preparing various surfaces for tiling with waterproofing material.
- Tapping tiles into place and making sure not to break or damage tiles.
- Install flooring fixtures using hand and machine tools.
- Obey health and safety codes, as wells as company’s principles.
- Attend company meetings, trainings, and workshops.
- Completing on-the-job training.
- Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.
- Perform other job-related duties, as required.

Knowledge, Skill & Abilities
- Physical fitness and stamina. Ability to carry heavy materials and ability to kneel down for long periods of time.
- Sound knowledge of construction and practical experience with tools.
- Great hand, eye, and foot coordination.

Education/Experience Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience setting tiles
- Knowledge of OSHA Safety Policies
- Carpentry and renovation experience a plus
