Pacific Historic Parks (PHP) is a non-profit 501(C)3 organization that is a cooperating association with the National Park Service in Pearl Harbor National Memorial and Kalaupapa National Historical Park, Hawaii, American Memorial Park, Saipan-CNMI, and War in the Pacific National Historical Park, Guam. Our mission is to support Pacific historic World War II locations through education & interpretive programs, research, preservation, and restoration to perpetuate the memory of events and honor the people involved in these sites.

Job purpose

We are looking for an energetic, responsible individual who will manage the operations of our retail kiosk. Duties to include, great customer service skills, ability to manage sales operations, supervise staff and be flexible to adapt to various situations that may arise. Strong communication skills are also needed. Our retail facility is an outdoor park kiosk and will require the supervisor to stand during the day.

Duties and responsibilities

  • All responsibilities of Sales Associate.
  • Ensure merchandise is properly receive, stocked and displayed in a manner to maximize sales.
  • Open and close the store as scheduled.
  • Complete cash deposits on a daily basis.
  • Occasionally assist with inventory and other special events that may be held outside of traditional worksites and hours.
  • Other duteis as assigned.

Working Conditions

  • The Visitor Center is an Outdoor environment without air conditioning. Additional ventilation is through open windows and ceiling fans.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged standing.
  • Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to continuously move large and bulky wheeled displays.
  • Ability to reach, stoop, bend and lift to clean and restock supplies.
  • Store will require manual dexterity to place items in bags, stack, fold, and sort items, as well as operate a POS system and key UPC codes into the register. These motions can be repetitive.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Mental acuity sufficient to collect and interpret data, evaluate, reason, define problems, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, make valid judgements and decisions.

Qualifications

  • Three years of retail, cashier, or customer service experience, with a minimum of 6 months supervisory experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED Required, Associates or Bachelor’s in Business, Marketing, or Retail Merchandising preferred.
  • Ability to work in a professional manner with diverse guests, including non-English speakers.
  • Basic understanding of sales principles and customer service practices
  • Knowledge of customer and market dynamics and requirements
  • Ability to work as part of a team and take initiative independent of direct supervision
  • Enthusiastic, friendly and energetic with a genuine desire to provide outstanding service.
