CHIEF DATA OFFICER
Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity (ELC)
Up to $10,834 per month, salary commensurate with training and experience
Â
Exempt, non-civil service, full-time, temporary appointment. The primary purpose of this position decides overarching public health informatics objectives and policies for the Division and other programs within the Department; ensures that the Division and Department adhere to applicable laws, statutes, standards, and meets industry best practices; oversees administration of budgets and the supervision of subordinates; has responsibility for enhancing data quality, reliability, and access and creating and realizing business value from data assets and internal and external data ecosystems.

Minimum Qualifications
Â
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in health informatics, public health, science (e.g., biology, chemistry, physics), epidemiology, public policy, health policy, health services research, health information sciences, computer science, economics, math, statistics, engineering, data science, or related field is required.
Â
Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in public health, public health informatics, healthcare informatics, information technology, computer science, information science, public policy or health policy, statistics, science, math, engineering, data science, or related field is required.
Â
Doctoral-level degree (e.g., PhD, DrPH) from an accredited college or university in computer science, data science, informatics, science, statistic, math, engineering, or related field is preferred.
Â
EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years of experience at senior-level, supervisory role in academia, technical organization, government or healthcare system. Experience should include thought leadership, supervision and management; strong communication skills; project management experience and skills; budget and planning experience and skills; evidence of analytic data products (e.g., scientific publications); and professionalism and ethical behavior.

LICENSE: Valid State of Hawaii driver’s license is preferred.
