Job Description

 

A Barback supports bartenders by ensuring that the bar area is stocked and organized.  This role involves maintaining inventory, cleaning, and assisting with various tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the bar.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Replenish supplies such as liquor, beer, and mixers.
  • Cleans glassware, utensils, and equipment.
  • Dispose of waste and ensure proper sanitation.
  • Asist bartenders with preparation and serving of drinks.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area.
  • Monitor inventory levels and report any shortage or issues.
  • Help with setting up and breaking down the bar for service.
  • Provide excellent customer service by assisting patrons as needed.

 

SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS

 

Reports To:        Restaurant General Manager

 

Supervises:     ​    None

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE<​/p>

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a similar role is preferred but not required.

 

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

  • TB Clearance
  • Liquor Card/Manager’s Blue Card

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of basic bar equipment and cleaning procedures is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently in English (speak, read, write) with guests, co-workers and management.
  • Ability to perform assigned duties and essential job functions with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy and cooperativeness.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The Barback will be subject to shift work, working alone and/or with others, requires constant verbal and face to face contact with others and guest contact. The position may also be regularly subject to kitchen/bar equipment, moving objects, fumes/odors, and hazardous materials in an indoor setting.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
  • The Barback must be flexible for scheduling; and available on nights, weekends and holidays (as necessary).
  • Fast-paced restaurant environment.
  • Interaction with a diverse range of customers and staff.
