ARL INFORMATION ASSURANCE ANALYST – ID# 224700.

Regular, Full Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL), located at the University of Hawai‘i, Manoa Innovation Center, in Honolulu, Hawai‘i. Telework (from employee’s residence city and state) may be permissible subject to review and approval by Principal Investigator and RCUH. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws. 

 

MONTHLY SALARY RANGE:  $5,000 - $8,900/Mon. 

 

DUTIES:  Configures, manages, and monitors automated information assurance (IA) tools including log aggregation, vulnerability detection, and endpoint protection software. Conducts vulnerability management, mitigation, and incident response. Assists in development and execution of ARL table-top IA exercises. Provides IA-related help-desk support and new-user onboarding to include configuration of security tools, record keeping, and initial information assurance training. Conducts lab-wide IA training. Assists with drafting, implementation, and administration of the ARL cybersecurity policies and procedures. Maintains and tracks software and software licenses for ARL to be able to assist ARL procurement. Maintains documentation within the software assets management lifecycle and ensuring key information is available to stakeholders. Analyzes purchased licenses, conducts research to assist with purchases and contract requirements, and offers end-user functional support. Coordinates with cybersecurity engineers, computer technicians, project managers and end users. Drafts audit reports, budget inputs, and other administrative support for the information assurance team. Performs other duties as assigned. 

 

PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS:

 

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university in Cybersecurity, Information Assurance or a closely related Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) field. (Associate’s Degree from an accredited community college and two (2) years of experience or High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent and four (4) years of related work experience may substitute for a Bachelor’s Degree.).

EXPERIENCE

One to three (1-3) years of demonstrated experience in information assurance within a small to medium size organization (less than 100 employees).

KNOWLEDGE

Demonstrated knowledge of the National Institute of Standards and Technology Special 800-series publications. Demonstrated knowledge of automated information-security auditing tools (e.g., Splunk, Tenable products) and endpoint-protection software management. General understanding of basic programming languages (e.g., Python).

ABILITIES & SKILLS

Must be a U.S. Citizen, a requirement of the Government security investigation to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Ability to manage and maintain automated security tools across multiple operating systems (Windows, macOS or Linux). Ability to develop plans of actions and milestones for remediation of information system vulnerabilities. Ability to work across multiple departments to support information assurance needs at the user and system level. Must be analytical while using acquired experience to work pragmatically and efficiently. Ability to communicate project plans, schedules and progress in writing and verbally. Requires attention to detail, ability to multi-task and a moderate degree of independence. Ability to effectively conduct work remotely (e.g., telework) as applicable. Post Offer/Employment Conditions:Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance based on a tier-3 background investigation to access classified information. Must be able to obtain the CompTIA Security+  certification  within six (6) months of hire, and maintain mandatory continuing education requirements. Must be able to complete the UH Information Security Awareness Training (ISAT) within two (2) weeks from date of hire, and re-certify every twelve (12) months. 

PHYSICAL/MEDICAL DEMANDS

Ability to lift and carry up to thirty (30) pounds unassisted from ground level while in a standing position. Ability to perform repetitive keyboard entry for twenty to forty (20-40) hours per week.

POLICY/REGULATORY REQUIREMENT

SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS:    

 

Experience working in a controlled unclassified information environment. Experience working in red team / blue team cyber competitions. Knowledge of DoD contracts, grants, and classified systems security practices and procedures.
